Following the guidelines issued by the national Government and the guidelines issued by the Ayacucho Plan, Colombian National Army continues to generate operations to mitigate environmental crimes.
Within the framework of military operations, troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, through the Brigade Against the Illicit Exploitation of Mining deposits, in a coordinated work with the Fifteenth Brigade, under the direction of the Joint Task Force Titan, and the National Police, through the National Unit against Illegal Mining, achieved the intervention of seven illegal mining production units in Cértegui and Río Quito, Chocó department.
Through this intervention, a damage of approximately 6,300 million pesos was possible, where an extraction of 14,000 grams per month was estimated, valued at more than 3,800 million pesos.
With the neutralization of this machinery, it was possible to mitigate the environmental damage to the Quito River and natural resources due to illicit exploitation, protecting the environmental rights of the communities surrounding the illicit exploitation.
