As a result of the constant military and police operation, seven alleged members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 48, so-called Commandos de Frontera, were arrested. They apparently would be responsible for carrying out criminal operations in the municipalities of San José del Fragua and Curillo, in the department of Caquetá, as well as in the municipality of Piedemonte, Cauca.
In joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations conducted by troops of the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, in the early hours of the morning of this Wednesday, July 13, in the Buenos Aires village, of the municipality of San José del Fragua, department of Caquetá, it was possible to dismantle a group made up of seven men in firearms of the GAO-r- 48, who were, apparently, under the command of the individual known as Palustre, one of the ringleaders in charge of directing illegal activities aimed at drug trafficking in the region.
This result is framed within the Operation José María Córdova, aimed to dismantle the structures of residual organized groups at the national level, in order to stabilize and contribute to the necessary security conditions for the civilians in the territories where these individuals commit crimes.
This operation results in the finding of five 9-millimeter pistol-type handguns, and ammunition for them; two communications equipment and a fragmentation grenade were in the same way found. The arrested were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, and it is expected that the corresponding operations will be carried out to legalize their arrests.
