The Yo No Pago Yo Denuncio Campaign continues to guarantee the freedom and life of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean.
In a joint, coordinated and interagency operation against extortion and kidnapping, carried out by the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps -CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, it was possible to liberate a man, a civil engineer, who had been kidnapped in the municipality of María la Baja, department of Bolívar.
The victim, who was contacted by phone by a supposed client, through deceit, who expressed his interest in building a farm house in the municipality of Retiro Nuevo, rural area of Bolivar, summoned the young professional to a meeting on the road to the sector, where they would finalize the details of the project, to later start the work.
The freed man told the authorities that when he reached the agreed place, he was intercepted by two individuals, who said they were in charge of taking him to the place where the meeting would take place, boarding a private vehicle and initiating the movement towards the sector, where minutes later he received a call of the alleged client who identifies himself as a member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, demanding 50 million pesos in exchange for not attacking against his good physical condition.
The kidnappers contacted the victim's wife and agreed to pay 5 million pesos, and later, additional 10 million pesos. The woman before the extortion call gave notice to the Unified operation Group for Personal Liberty - Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bolívar and the Caribean, who together with units of the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, began the rescue operation in the rural sector of Retiro Nuevo, where they find the victim's vehicle and began the pursuit of the criminals, who managed to evade the operation of the authorities and fled through a wooded area of difficult access.
After confirming that the man was in good health, he was taken to the headquarters of the Prosecutor's Office in Cartagena, in Bolívar, to carry out the administrative acts and file the denunciation. Although there were no arrests, the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) continue in the area carrying out military operations to find those responsible for this crime.
