In a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Navy, the National Police with the SIJIN, by the Directorate of Carabineros and Rural Security and the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, it was possible to find and disable two floating dredge structures and one rudimentary boat in the south of the country.
Thanks to the follow-up carried out by Air Combat Command No. 6, CACOM 6, through Remotely Manned Aircraft of the Air Force and human intelligence of the National Navy it was possible to neutralize the ships that were being used for the illegal exploitation of mining sites in the vicinity of La Paya National Natural Park, in the Department of Putumayo, in the municipality of Puerto Legu铆zamo.
In the operation troops found three engines, 80 meters in hose used for the extraction of the fluvial bed, 25 gallons of burnt oil and mercury, generators of high levels of pollution in the Caquet谩 river, and consequently of great environmental impact. So this operation not only reduces the illicit finances of the Organized Armed Groups GAO-R that commit crimes in this region of the country, but in the same way tends to reduce the damage to our environment.
