Major General Brad Owens, Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Carolina National Guard of the United States-SCNG, held a meeting with General Ramses Rueda Rueda, Commander of the Colombian Air Force. Strategic interest issues were discussed to strengthen interoperability through technical cooperation, instruction, exchange of experiences, lessons from the past and knowledge, contributing to hemispheric and regional security.
The South Carolina National Guard is an Institution that supports the Military Forces of Colombia, through access and renewal of military Resources, interoperability, under the principles of responsible governance.
The visit will take place from February 15 to 17, 2022, and seeks to project greater cooperation efforts within the framework of the State Partnership Program-SPP, signed by Colombia and the State of South Carolina in 2012, whose objective is oriented to the promotion of mutual interests and the construction of lasting Resources by both partners.
In the same way, this cooperation has generated historic milestones in terms of interoperability standards. The participation in the Exercise Relampago in previous years stands out. This exercise covered the implementation of techniques, tactics, procedures and training for combined missions.
The strategic defense alliance with the United States has led to the deployment of Resources to decisively confront emerging threats, in a changing global environment, where transnational and organized crime and terrorism pose a continuing challenge to the security of states.
In the framework of this visit, meetings will in the same way be held with senior commanders of the Colombian Military Forces, regarding the commemoration of the 10 years since the signing of the SPP.
