Units of the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the maritime productive groups and the community, continue to carry out two search operations to find the whereabouts of a foreign citizen and a Colombian, allegedly disappeared on the beaches of the village of Palomino, in the municipality of Dibulla - La Guajira.
The Naval Institution received the information on the foreigner's disappearance on January 2nd in the afternoon by the Riohacha Port Authority, for which it deployed a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR of the Santa Marta Primary Coast Guard Station, in order to carry out the search operation in the area. In parallel, communication was established with the Corregidora de Palomino who informed that the German citizen, apparently, would have been seen for the last time on January 01 at dawn by some tourists of the sector.
In the search protocols for the German citizen on the beaches of Palomino, units of the National Police found the corpse of a foreign citizen, who apparently would be the companion and would have died due to alleged drowning in the sector.
In the second operation, Santa Marta Coast Guard crewmen received a second emergency call, this time of the Police Station of the village of Palomino - La Guajira, who reported the disappearance of a 69-year-old man, who entered the sea in the Gaviotas Beach sector near the mouth of the Ancho River, without knowing more information about his whereabouts. A Coast Guard URR was immediately deployed to carry out search patterns, verify the situation and establish communication with their relatives to expand details about the case.
Simultaneously, the Institution, in coordination with the Maritime Authority, has made warning calls to ships transiting the areas of the facts, in order to support the search efforts.
