With the support of the municipal unit of Agricultural Technical Assistance (Umata) of Nilo, the school has been increasing its capacity in the seedling of native trees; therefore, more often carries out reforestation campaigns in coordination with public and private institutions of the departmental order.
On this occasion, Caracolies were planted on the protective margin of the Pagüey River and each of the trees planted will continue under surveillance to provide them with the care they need for their growth. The above said, taking into account the climatic conditions and characteristics of the land where they were planted.
The tropical dry forest is an ecosystem in danger of extinction mainly due to deforestation and forest fires, so all the efforts made for its protection and conservation represent an enormous value for the environment in this region of the country.
Iván Pinzón, environmental engineer of the School of Soldiers said that the soldiers who participated in this activity were trained in the techniques necessary for proper planting, with the aim of ensuring the growth and development of these trees.
As part of the commemoration of International Tree Day, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to environmental management with effective operations in the conservation of biodiversity and care of Natural Resources.
