At the ceremony commemorating the 204th anniversary of the Battle of Boyacá and the more than 213 years of the National Army, the military will be recognized for his laudable service, and will receive the José Fernández Madrid Order of Sanitary Merit.
Jorge Iván Galindo Paternina is a Soldier, combat nurse of the glorious National Army, as he proudly calls it. He has specialized six years of his life to the institution, and he is convinced that he will continue to do his best, with passion and fervor in the framework of his work.
Currently he is part of the General José María Ortega Jungle Battalion No. 51, in Miraflores, Guaviare, where he stands out for his commitment; for this, he was selected to be decorated with the José Fernández Madrid Order of Sanitary Merit, in the ceremony of the commemoration of the 204 years Battle of Boyacá and the 213 of the National Army.
As a combat nurse, he has given his help to several of his comrades, and, in some cases, to civilians when they have needed it, for this reason he is deserving one of the highest recognitions that can be granted to a soldier of the homeland.
Soldier Galindo remembers how on a patrol they were carrying out in San José del Guaviare they were attacked by a group outlaw, and one of his comrades was wounded; he ran to his comrade regardless of the crossfire. Only his heart told him that he should help this human being who needed him. He knows that he put his life in danger, but he managed to save his comrade's, providing him with first aid on the battlefield.
Today, Soldier Galindo walks with a few extra kilos in his campaign equipment, because he not only carries his weapons, his food ration and his personal things, but in the same way carries the first-aid kit with all the necessary elements to save lives and help those who require it.
