A coordinated work led to neutralizing the criminal operations of these people who were damaging the natural resources of the region.
In recent hours, soldiers of the National Army, in coordination with the Police, arrested in flagrante delicto 27 people accused of the crime of illegal exploitation of mining deposits, in two points of the department of Santander; in the same way, explosives material and other elements related to this activity were seized.
In a first operation, in the village of Angosturas, in the municipality of California, Santander, troops of the Fifth Brigade found 12 individuals who were carrying out gold mining work on the sector. They found an electricity generator, non-electric detonators, 2.5 kilograms of ANFO-type explosive and 15 meters of safety fuse and indugel (explosives).
In other operations, on the protective line of the Rio de Oro in Gir贸n, Santander, the authorities arrested in flagrante delicto 15 people who would in the same way be extracting this mineral at this point, and troops also reported the finding of two dump trucks, two motor pumps and other elements used for this illegal exercise.
With these arrests, it was possible to neutralize the criminal operations made by those who attack natural resources, cause considerable damages to water sources and break the health of families, as well as the conservation of the fauna and flora of the region.
