More than 90 hours of searching at sea have been used by units of the Colombian Navy to search a sailboat that had sailed from the Guatemalan coast to San Andr茅s island and from which, so far, no information has been obtained about its arrival.
The alert was issued because a maritime agency reported not having had communication with the ship after its departure from Livingston, on last December 20, and which reported on its departure an estimated date of arrival at the island of San Andr茅s, on December 26.
Once the report was received, the Naval Institution initiated search and rescue procedures in coordination with the Maritime General Directorate - DIMAR and the authorities in the region, to locate the Polish-flagged sailboat, named Carpe Diem, which was reported to have a crewman on board.
To date, the Colombian Navy has carried out constant video radar sweeps on the north of the island, has made communication with different ships in the area and Naval posts in each of the keys, in addition to coordination with the maritime productive groups, in order to find it, without having positive results at the moment.
