Antioquia. In coordinated and inter-institutional operations, troops of the National Army, the National Police, the Ombudsman's Office and the Family Commissariat, rescued minors and adults who had been recruited by force by the organized armed group – GAO, Clan del Golfo del Golfo.
The military rescue operation, planned by units of the Fourteenth Brigade, was carried out in recent hours, after infiltration work and precise intelligence in the hamlet Moncholo of the municipality of Zaragoza, Bajo Cauca in the department of Antioquia.
Since the first moment those rescued have received medical assistance, psychological and moral accompaniment, among other necessary support for the restoration of their rights. According to the authorities, several of the minors, including adult women, had been victims of sexual abuse by members of this organization.
With the escape of two people who had been recruited by force by this organized armed group, it was possible to establish a series of crimes and events that had been occurring with these two families. They managed to give notice to the authorities about the situation they were victims of since mid-2018, when the criminals arrived at their hamlet forcing them to conduct forced labor, on roads and highways with the purpose of moving more easily in the territory.
In the military operation, alias 'El Burro' was captured, who according to the investigation had been sent to the area to attack the members of the families, in retaliation for their decision. This individual was found with a firearm, three cell phones and a communication radio.
