San José del Guaviare. In a joint operation conducted by the troops of the Joint Task Force Omega, the Army, the National Navy and the Colombian Air Force and with the support of the intelligence of the National Police, it was possible to neutralize nine members of the Residual Armed Group of the Farc in the department of Guaviare.
These people (eight men and one woman) who belonged to the first and seventh front of the Farc were neutralized in a bombardment of the Air Combat Command No. 2 (Cacom 2) of the Air Force and the deployment of troops of the Joint Task Omega in the rural area of the municipality of Calamar (Guaviare).
"The precision of the bombing of Cacom 2, the air assault and the combat on ground led the whole structure that was under attack to fall in this operation that was conducted in the Itilla River, La Unión district of the department of Guaviare, municipality of Calamar. In the same way, troops found numerous objects, war material including five rifles, pistols, radios, grenades launcher, gps and a minefield with 10 explosive devices and heads of gas cylinders of 100 pounds that were in the hands of this group," said the Minister of Defense, Luis Carlos Villegas.
Thanks to the participation of the intelligence of the National Police and the other intelligence agencies of the Military Forces, it was possible the joint work of the troops of land, sea and air to guarantee the security and defense of the region.
"We are in the process of identifying two of the neutralized individuals who would be important leaders of this organization under the command of alias 'Mordisco' and alias 'Gentil Duarte'. Those leaders will be identified by the Judicial Police and the Office of the Prosecutor, with the coordination of the national police in the next few hours, identities will be known," said Villegas.
