When it comes to wanting to know the fascinating world of aviation, only some people have the opportunity to have a direct contact with the Colombian Air Force aircraft. This activity is As铆 se va a las estrellas, which is aimed at all adult people who want to live an experience inside an Aerial Military Unit, and also, in the same way people with disabilities.
Why do airplanes fly? what was their development and evolution? when did the first planes arrive in Colombia?, are some of the questions that are answered to visitors at Air Combat Command No. 2, CACOM 2, in which they in the same way have the possibility to get on an aircraft, see how it operates, understand what their mission is and everything that is needed to fulfill it.
Within these scheduled visits, which include homes for the elderly, there are several associations of people with physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities, among others, who experience a complete aeronautical environment by the hand of the military personnel of the Comprehensive operation Section of CACOM 2.
"Thank you for such a wonderful invitation, they are super happy, it is like a trip to the stars for them, it is something wonderful that they had not experienced before" said Mrs. Sara Sosa, representative of the Asopacui Association of Villavicencio, who accompanied a group of adults with various types of disabilities during a tour, in which the interaction of all the staff stood out, adapting to the needs of the visitors getting a successful communication, supporting them with sign language, active listening and different tools that led to the success of the activity.
In this way, the staff of CACOM 2 promotes social inclusion and seeks to strengthen communication mechanisms with residents with disabilities, encouraging people to accept differences, demonstrating that they are not an impediment to getting to know the Colombian Air Force.
