Hero forever Sergeant Fabio Andr茅s Betancourt Padilla
The Omega Joint Task Force regrets to report the vile murder of First Sergeant Fabio Andr茅s Betancourt Padilla (R.I.P.), as a consequence of the activation of an improvised explosive device operated by criminals from the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, structure of the terrorist alias Gentil Duarte. Likewise, this device injured a Soldier who, through military aeromedical evacuation, receives specialized care in the city of Villavicencio. This gang persists in the systematic flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law and violation of Human Rights, violating the inhabitants of the Guayabero region, with this type of mines.
1. The event took place in the municipality of La Tigra, municipality of Puerto Rico, department of Meta, where the troops of the Specific Command of the East, CEO - Battalion of Ground Operations No.7 carry out military operations to destroy the structures of the residual GAO, responsible for the crime of homicide, extortion, illegal recruitment of children and adolescents, among others.
2. The use of illegal means and methods of warfare is penalized in article 142 of the Colombian Criminal Code (Act No. 599 of 2000). On the other hand, it violates the third article common to the four Geneva Conventions as well as the Ottawa Convention (1997).
3. The soldiers of land, river and air express a heartfelt greeting of condolence and work to provide the corresponding accompaniment to the relatives, partners and companions of our Hero of the Homeland. We pray to the Almighty for his eternal rest. Efforts and coordination are conducted to honor and return the dead body of our Non-Commissioned Officer to his land in the department of Nari帽o. In the same way, we watch and pray for the recovery of our wounded soldier.
4. The Joint Task Force Omega will continue the operations against the factors of instability in the region, especially the structure of the terrorist Gentil Duarte, head of the systematic violation of the rights of all inhabitants of the colombian amazorinoqu铆a region.
