Forever hero: Sergeant Jhon Jairo Montealegre Chica
The Command of the Quiron Task Force, a military unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army, reports:
1. Last night, Friday, May 6, according to the first information and in facts that are the subject of investigation, two non-commissioned officers belonging to the Special Energy and Road Battalion No.22 who were carrying out an intelligence work mission were allegedly intercepted by unknown persons in the Naranjitos village, between La Talanquera sector and La Intibana bridge, in Tame municipality, in the department of Arauca, where they were attacked indiscriminately with firearms.
2. During the attack was killed sergeant Jhon Jairo Montealegre Chica, born in the municipality of Cerrito, Valle del Cauca, who was father of three children. He had more than 20 years of service in the institution and he got several awards throughout his military career. In the same way, a corporal was also wounded, who received immediate first aid and was taken to a medical center for special care, where he is stable.
3. This Command, through its Personnel Section, and with the support of a multidisciplinary family team, conducts the respective internal processes to initiate the accompaniment to the family of our fallen hero in the line of duty.
4. The National Army will denounce this atrocious action that mourns our institution. In the same way, it is coordinating with the authorities the corresponding legal procedures.
5. We express our condolences to the relatives, partners and comrades of our murdered hero and pray to the Almighty for his eternal rest. In the same way, we are attentive to the medical evolution of our wounded non-commissioned officer.
