President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, announced on Friday the names of the new commanders of the Military Forces and the National Police, who will accompany him to carry out the comprehensive policy of Human Security for peace and the defense of life.
The announcement was made by the Head of State at the Ministry of Defense, accompanied by the Minister Iván Velásquez and the new commanders of the Military Forces.
The new commanders are:
* Commander of the Military Forces, General Helder Fernan Giraldo Bonilla
The new Commander of the Military Forces is General Helder Fernan Giraldo Bonilla, who was serving as Inspector General of the Army.
Throughout his service to the homeland, the officer has studies as professional in Military Sciences of Infantry, as well as in Security Management and Socio-Political Analysis at the School of Intelligence and Counterintelligence of the Army.
In addition, the new Commander of the Military Forces is PhD Honoris Causa in, Education of International Humanitarian Law and International Law from the Human Rights Logos International University, among other studies.
He in the same way promoted, before the Ministry of Education, the creation of the doctorate in Strategic Studies, Security and Defense.
In the same way, General Giraldo served as Commander of the Fifth Brigade of the National Army, of the Eighth Division, in charge of working to improve security in the departments of Arauca, Casanare and GuainÃa.
* Chief of the Joint Staff, Vice Admiral José JoaquÃn Amézquita GarcÃa
Vice Admiral José JoaquÃn Amézquita GarcÃa, 52, was appointed as Chief of the Joint staff of the Military Forces
He served aboard the Missile Frigates ARC Antioquia, ARC Almirante Padilla and ARC Caldas.
As head of the Weapons and Electronics Department of the ARC BolÃvar Naval Base, he was in charge of technical projects for the National Army, Afloat Units and Navy Infantry Units.
At the end of 2008 he was called to work in the Orion Plan, the highest quality and complexity program carried out by the National Navy to date.

* Commander of the National Army, General Luis Mauricio Ospina Gutiérrez
General Luis Mariano Ospina Gutiérrez was appointed as Commander of the National Army, he currently heads the Superior War College, the highest Institution of Military Higher Education.
He has served in command positions such as Commander of the Mobile Brigade No. 3, Director of the Military Education Center and Military Deputy at the US Embassy.
In 2015, he entered the Corps of Generals being promoted to the Rank of Brigadier General, as Commander of the Second Brigade with in the Departments of Atlántico, Magdalena and the south of BolÃvar.
During 2018 he served as Commander of the Thirteen Brigade, in the department of Cundinamarca and the capital city of the country.
His professional profile includes studies such as Professional in Military Sciences of the General José MarÃa Córdova Cadet Military School, diploma in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law of the Nueva Granada University, Master in National Security and Defense of the Superior War College.
In 2019 he was the Commander of the Fifth Division.

* Director of the National Police, General Henry Armando Sanabria Cely
He began his police career at the then Directorate of Judicial Police and Investigation (Dijin), from which he profiled as an intelligence officer, in the Area of Electronic Intelligence.
In his more than 33 years of institutional experience, he participated in operations against organized crime in the Police Intelligence Directorate (Dipol) and during his service to the homeland, he served in various positions in the Cundinamarca Police Department, in the General Santander School, in the General Directorate of the National Police, in the Health Directorate and in the Metropolitan police of Cartagena.
He is a police administrator and lawyer with specializations in administrative law, criminal investigation, security, crimes and criminology.
He in the same way completed his Master's degree in Strategic Management in Spain and studied the International Senior Management program at the Universidad de los Andes.
* Deputy Director General of the National Police, General Yackeline Navarro, Ordóñez
The new Deputy Director of the Police began her professional career as a police administrator in 1992, upon graduating at the General Francisco de Paula Santander Police Cadet School, as a member of the 062 officers course Major Elkin Román Cifuentes Gómez.
Since then she has held different positions and functions in departments such as Atlántico, Meta, Antioquia, and cities such as MedellÃn and Bogotá.
Through her experience, he has learned about the problems of each region and thus identified opportunities to strengthen the police service and optimize institutional resources.
Thanks to her leadership and academic training, she promoted important projects at the Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada School of Non-Commissioned Officers and Executive Level, the Miguel Antonio Lleras Pizarro School of Higher Police Studies, at the Sumapaz Province Police School IT. As Director of Incorporation she led the reengineering in the Human Talent Selection Protocol for the National Police, with a capacity for innovation that led her to expand the resources to cover institutional needs.
