Five million doses of cocaine hydrochloride will no longer be distributed on the streets of the world.
This result damages the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations by approximately 65 million dollars.
In the course of an operation by the Colombian Navy coordinated with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to find 1.9 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, which were transported aboard a truck in the municipality of María la Baja, Bolívar.
This resounding result was made possible when troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.13 with the support of the Cartagena Coast Guard Station and in coordination with the Technical Research Corps – CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) – in a checkpoint on the Caribbean Trunk road, carried out the inspection of a vehicle with anti-narcotics dogs.
Immediately, the driver and the vehicle were taken to the city of Cartagena, where a complete inspection was carried out, finding inside more than 90 fruit boxes containing rectangular packages, similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations for the transport of illicit substances.
The substance found in the packages turned out to be 1,950 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The driver of the vehicle and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
It is estimated that the value of this shipment would be close to 65 million dollars, a figure that thanks to this operation could not enter the transnational criminal organizations. In addition, the distribution and commercialization of approximately five million doses of cocaine on the international illegal market was prevented.
This year, the Caribbean Naval Force has found 36 tons of cocaine hydrochloride in this region of the country, dealing a blow of more than 1 213 million dollars to these organizations.
