The discovery of abundant material of war, military accessories and explosives and the surrender to justice of one of its members are part of the heavy blows to this Organized Armed Group.
After nine days of sustained and uninterrupted operations against the Clan del Golfo, the Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force, dealt hard blows to this Organized Armed Group, managing to dismantle one of its strongest groups in the department of Chocó.
Those responsible for executing this operation, which they called “Furia”, were the troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23, attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2, who for more than 200 hours carried out search and control operations in the sector known as Punta Cocalito and in the urban area of the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the department of Chocó.
Troops seized 14 AK-47 rifles, a Galil rifle, a fragmentation grenade, 30 magazines, 3,360 cartridges of different calibers, six pieces for rifles, a kilo of pentolite-type explosives, two electric detonators, communication equipment, military accessories of exclusive use of the Military Forces, identification accessories alluding to the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia. In the same way, troops obtained the surrender to justice of one of its members who had more than two years of crime in this organization.
Once verified the zone and in compliance with the established protocols, the explosive material was destroyed under controlled conditions by the group of explosives and demining of the Battalion. The individual and the materials were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for their respective judicial process.
In these moments, the troops continue the searches in the area to find other individuals who escaped the place when noticing the presence of the military. This structure is accused of recruiting minors of age for its ranks and disputing with other armed groups the drug trafficking routes generating constriction to the inhabitants of the North Pacific.
