Through coordination work conducted by the Fe in Colombia program, the National Army and the Association of Coffee Producers El Bosque and Asoilusión, 200 food baskets were managed and donated by farmers of the 14 municipalities of La Marina and Las Hermosas, in the department of Tolima, to help families in vulnerable conditions, whose economy has been damaged by the compulsory isolation that aims to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The humanitarian aid that contains elements of the family basket such as: green banana, bananas, cassava, avocado, oranges, lemons, pumpkins, tangerines, soursop, pineapple and eggs, were distributed with the support of the Community action council leaders, in the neighborhoods of Las Américas, Salomón Umaña and El Jardín, in Chaparral.
Leonor Valencia, one of the mothers head of families benefited, said: "On behalf of the entire neighborhood and on my own, I want to thank the associations of the municipality La Marina, especially the National Army and Faith in Colombia, for these food baskets that have come to donate to the community, thank you very much.”
