Corvette Lieutenant Gabriela Castro Bobadilla placed second in the individual Sprint category, two kilometers, at the Oceaman open water swimming competition, held in Panama, on July 16 and 17, 2022, in which more than 700 athletes from around the world participated.
After 40 minutes of swimming that began at Las Banderas Beach, Causeway, Castro qualified for the world cup to be held in Egypt, in the month of October, reaching the tenth place in the general classification.
“When I entered the water the last thing I thought was that when I returned I was going to climb a podium, I hadn't done it for a long time, simply while swimming, I was enjoying every moment. It is at that precise moment where all the effort is worth, that small grain of sand of daily sacrifice is reflected in life,” Castro reflects.
Lieutenant Gabriela Castro is currently completing her professional complementation period in the Naval Cadet School Almirante Padilla, under the Education Model of the Colombian Navy (MEDAR) in its edition number seven. She has been practicing triathlon for two years and she is part of the Colombian Navy Triathlon team.
The Admiral Padilla Naval Cadet School encourages participation in competitive sports events, which favor the integration with external personnel to the naval institution, contributing to the training of Officers of the Colombian Navy.
