With intelligence and investigation activities, as well as with the implementation of a coordinated Security Bubble conducted by the Mayor's Office of Jamundí, the Attorney General's Office, the National Army and the National Police, it was possible to carry out significant operations against illegal armed groups in this municipality.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, National Army troops, in the first military operation carried out in the rural area of Jamundí, obtained the arrest of two alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Jaime Martínez structure; there a member surrender to justice and a minor was recovered, both belonging to this structure.
In another operation it was possible the arrest of an alleged member of the GAO-r Carlos Patiño, the recovery of a minor and the voluntary surrender of another alleged member of this structure.
For its part, the National Police arrested three men for the crimes of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying weapons, restricted-use ammunition for the exclusive use of Military Forces or explosives; they would be part of the support networks of the residual Jaime Martínez organized armed group.
These individuals were traveling along the Pan-American highway and were searched in sector of the municipality of Jamundí, troops seized six fragmentation grenades, a private vehicle and a motorcycle. Those arrested were put into prison.
With this strategy, the Military Forces seek to influence the reduction of the different crimes that generate anxiety in the Vallecaucanos, by ensure their protection and neutralizing the threats in this area of the country.
