The operation led by the Colombian Navy is a powerful blow against the GAO Clan del Golfo on the Pacific Coast.
In a decisive operation against the Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes on the Pacific Coast, the Colombian Navy, the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Interpol – DIJIN, the Attorney General's Office of the Nation, the Colombian Air Force and the Joint Task Force Titan, carried out an inter-institutional operation that led to the arrest and prosecution of nine alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo, including two ringleaders, who would be responsible for the financial support of the substructures responsible for the shipment of narcotics of the Pacific Coast from Chocó to Central America.
This operation was carried out through a specialized intelligence work of the Colombian Navy and the DIJIN of the National Police, leading to generate with the Attorney General's Office the arrest and indictment orders to these individuals, simultaneously in the municipalities of Juradó and Bahía Solano in the department of Chocó; Duitama in Boyacá; Tumaco in Nariño; Cali and Buenaventura in Valle del Cauca.
It should be noted that the arrests of alias Luis, the financial ringleader, and alias Chamber, the drug trafficking ringleader, both of the Jairo de Jesús Durango Restrepo Structure of this gang, would be responsible for the control of illicit income, payroll payment, collection centers and drug trafficking routes, respectively, on the Pacific coast of Chocó.
In the same way, within the framework of the Colombian Navy's transparency policy and zero tolerance of corruption, the arrest of two Professional navy men in active service and one retired, who allegedly leaked information, was carried out. This action is an example for all the members of the Colombian Navy in order to ensure ethics and transparency in every way.
With the consolidation of this result, the financial support and the capacity for the maintenance and criminal continuity of this gang that benefits from drug trafficking and that violates the tranquility and security of the inhabitants in this important region of the country, is significantly hit.
