Once again, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the Colombian National Police worked hand in hand to neutralize 21 dredgers specialized in the illicit exploitation of mining deposits in the Puré River (Puré River National Natural Park) in Amazonas, surpassing the results obtained at the beginning of December 2023.
The coordinated operation was conducted for two days and had the determined participation of the Carabineros and Environmental Protection Directorate (DICAR) of the Colombian National Police and the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Amazonas Air Group, supporting the operation with its intelligence aircraft.
In the operation, air platforms and personnel were sent to the Puré River, with the aim of identifying and neutralizing this type of illicit ships called dragons (huge dredges) on the riverbank, this following the guidelines of the National Government in environmental protection.
The destroyed equipment is valued at approximately 55 billion pesos, and had a productive capacity of 760 grams of gold per month, becoming one of the largest operations to date with a significant force against the illegal economy of these groups that commit crimes on the southern border of Colombia.
