This major coup was made possible thanks to the joint and inter-agency work of the National Army, the Colombian Air Force and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney’s General Office.
An operation carried out for several months by military intelligence led to the neutralization in the course of operations of two alleged members of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, who offended in several municipalities of the Nariño mountain range.
According to the information provided by the authorities, one of the individual would be alias Hugo, financial and logistics ringleader of Estructura Cordillera del Sur, and another individual.
According to information provided by military intelligence, alias Hugo would have been coordinating around 10 members of the criminal structure; his criminal record dates back more than 15 years in different organized armed groups. This guy would have a valid arrest warrant.
At the scene, troops found two pistols and a longrifle with which they intended to attack the Military Forces.
