In the department of Guainía, it was possible to disable machinery and equipment used for the illicit extraction of mining sites, thus preventing continuous damage to the natural resources, thanks to a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the National Police in an important mission to combat illegal mining.
In the rural areas of Chorromanaca and Laguna Guibo, in the municipality of Inírida, authorities found and dismantled seven mining production units and five rudimentary dredgers that were operating illegally in the border village of San Felipe.
It is estimated that the value of these mining production units and rudimentary dredgers amounts to 470 million pesos because, within these 12 structures, numerous equipment and supplies commonly used in the illegal extraction of mining deposits were found by troops, such as diesel engines, suction pumps, compressors, motor pumps, diving equipment and fuel, among other elements.
In the same way, two individuals were identified and arrested, who were put into custody of the authorities along with the material found.
With the neutralization of these structures, a decisive blow is given to the finances of these armed groups because it was possible to prevent the monthly extraction of approximately 7.5 kilograms of gold and six tons of raw material, which represents an estimated loss of about two billion pesos for illegal activities.
