During the operation, three other members of this same structure were captured. In the framework of the Military and Police Campaign 'Esparta'. ', one of its ringleaders for 15 years and also by the capture of three more individuals belonging to the Eastern war front.
After months of investigation conducted by the Security forces and once the objective was located, the insertion of the troops was made, which in a timely manner carried out the operation that took place in the village La Chona, in the Labateca municipality. The individual known as 'Manuel or' Nazario ', was the ringleader of the self-named group Martha Cecilia Pabón Pabón, front 'Efraín Pabón Pabón ', with more than 15 years in this GAO, conducting criminal activities in the departments of Arauca, Boyacá and Norte de Santander.
Because of his closeness to the head of the front, he was in charge of executing extortion operations against merchants and establishments in the different regions, as well as preparing explosives to attack on the members of the Security forces, the electrical infrastructure and the pipeline Caño Limón-Coveñas, in the department of the Norte de Santander.
It was known by information of the National Police that alias 'Nazario' was taking advantage of his status as a zone ringleader, constantly pressuring the population psychologically, to make the people pay under threats, reaching the point of expropriating farms and forced displacements.
'Manuel' or 'Nazario', is accused of participating in the attack against the National Police on July 3, 2014, where four police officers lost their lives and two more were wounded.
In this same operation three people were captured, who apparently composed the security group of this ringleader. They are José Vicente Ramírez Contreras, known as Toreto, second ringleader of the group Martha Cecilia Pabón, Edna Vanesa Forero, alias 'La Mona', couple of 'Manuel' or 'Nazario', and a third individual of Venezuelan nationality.
During this operation, two pistols and a communications equipment were found, so that the material and the persons captured were put into custody of the authority.
