On board the Ship ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo and in the midst of the health emergency caused by COVID-19, the Colombian Navy transported two electricity generators and nine tons of food baskets from the ARC Naval Base Bolívar in Cartagena to the island Isla Fuerte, in order to contribute to the well-being of the people and optimize their provision of energy service benefiting about 550 families.
This maritime transport operation, coordinated and conducted by the Caribbean Naval Force, the Ministry of the Interior, and the city hall of Cartagena, led to the arrival of these elements donated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in coordination with the Bolívar Government, which will provide the energy service for the inhabitants.
In the same way, food baskets at a cost of more than 55 million pesos were distributed, which seeks to guarantee food security for these prioritized people during Mandatory Preventive Isolation.
This operation that helps to bring the Unified action of the State to the Cartageneros in a sustained manner during this national contingency, takes place thanks to the inter-institutional work that the Colombian Navy carries out daily with institutions such as the Ministry of the Interior, Bolívar Interior, Mayor's Office de Cartagena, National Police, National Unit for Disaster Risk Management - UNGRD, Civil Defense, Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing (ICBF) ANDI, Ecopetrol, Cartagena Unida and the Foundations “AGM Huellas de Piedra,” “Bahía” and “Amigos del Mar.”
In compliance with the San Roque operation, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, ratifies once again its commitment to support the most vulnerable communities everywhere in the Caribbean coast, and will continue to serve the civilians with all its logistical resources and human talent, in order to provide well-being and guarantee multidimensional security for all Colombians.
