Units of the Colombian Navy, of the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia, transported three people to a safe harbor, who were rescued by a merchant ship after their boat Had Schold in which they were sailing, got adrift after failures in the main engine, 45 nautical miles northwest of Serrana Island in the waters of the Archipelago of San Andrés y Providencia.
The people who were on the boat received first aid of the crew of the merchant ship AS Petra from Liberia, which in turn reported the emergency to the Port authority, beginning the deployment of Rapid Reaction Units of the Station of Providencia Coast Guard, managing to receive the rescued personnel at sea, nine nautical miles east of the island of Providencia.
The three rescued men, Colombian nationality, were in optimal health conditions, which led to bring them to the Dock of the Providence Coast Guard Station; the motorboat was safely towed by a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Colombian Navy.
For its part, in compliance with current regulations, the National Police gave the respective fines for the violation of the presidential decree during the Mandatory Preventive Isolation. The motor ship was immobilized for noncompliance with the rules of the Colombian Maritime Regulations.
The Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, will continue to ensure comprehensive maritime security and the protection of human life at sea, while inviting the people of the Archipelago to continue complying with social isolation measures and report any type of emergency through the free line 146 or the VHF channel.
