Antioquia. In recent hours Units of the National Navy, with the support of the National Police and members of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, carried out an operation against the transnational drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Gulf of Urabá, finding around 5.2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride.
The operation was carried out in the Urabá cargo area, where there was a container that transported boxes of banana. Inside it has been contaminated with drug. It would be sent to the European black market. In these boxes, troops found 5,229 blocks of drugs.
The cocaine belonged to the Organized Armed Group known as the "Clan del Golfo", who wanted to take out the container aboard a Cyprus boat taking advantage of its contact points in several ports in Europe. They went to sell the drug initially in Belgium and from there they would send it to the rest of Europe, where it would cost about 314 million dollars. The material was put into custody of the authority. During the operation, there were no captures.
So far this year, the National Navy has managed to find 26.6 tons of cocaine that individuals were trying to send to countries in Europe, North and Central America.
