Units of the Colombian Navy, of the Southern Naval Force, distributed approximately 30.8 tons of humanitarian aid to the indigenous authorities of Putumayo, transported aboard a ship of the Naval Institution of the municipality of Puerto As铆s to the municipality of Puerto Legu铆zamo, through more than 300 kilometers of waters of the Putumayo River.
Thanks to the coordinated work with the Ministry of the Interior, the Putumayo Governorate, the Municipal Mayor's Office of Puerto Legu铆zamo, the Association of Traditional Authorities of Indigenous Councils of the Municipality of Legu铆zamo and Alto Resguardo Predio Putumayo -ACILAPP-, the Organization of the Zonal Indigenous of Putumayo - OZIP-, and the Colombian Navy, managed these donations consisting of food kits that are expected to benefit approximately 7,000 members from different indigenous communities in the Colombian Amazonas.
The donations were distributed at the ACILAPP headquarters, in the municipality of Puerto Legu铆zamo and will be distributed in the coming days to communities in the Colombian south-east belonging to the Murui Muina, Nasa, Coreguaje and Quichua ethnic groups.
The Southern Naval Force has arranged its river and land Units at the service of assistance to the civil authority and humanitarian aid to the inhabitants. In the same way, we continue to carry out operations against the instability factors that harm the Colombian Amazonas region, denying the river areas of this region of the country to illegal activities such as drug trafficking, contraband and illegal mining.
With the purpose of generating multidimensional security and in compliance with the San Roque operation, the Colombian Navy will continue to work in coordination with the public and private sectors in humanitarian activities that seek to enrich the well-being of the inhabitants of the Colombian south east, while putting its logistics resources and human talent for the benefit of its inhabitants.
