This is the second operation in less than a week, in which the Colombian Navy hits the GAO “Clan del Golfo” in Bahía Solano, neutralizing two high-value criminals.
Amid firefights in the sector known as Resaca, in the municipality of Bahía Cupica, of the municipality of Bahía Solano, troops of the Colombian Navy neutralized alias 'El Flaco' in military operations, and brought to justice alias 'El Cafetero'; in the same way, troops found war material.
Alias 'El Flaco', had with him an AK-47 rifle with magazine and ammunition. According to intelligence information, he was the ringleader of this Organized Armed Squad and had more than five years executing criminal operations against the civilian population, including constant extortions. He, in the same way, had criminal records for illegally carrying firearms.
Alias 'El Cafetero' was wounded in the armed confrontations; the troops of the Marine Infantry Battalion No.23 proceeded to provide him with humanitarian assistance. Later after stabilizing him, he was taken to a health center where he recovered satisfactorily. 'El Cafetero', who admitted belonging to this group for more than three years ago, submitted to justice and will be prosecuted by the authorities.
In an area near the place where alias “El Flaco” was neutralized, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 759 caliber 7.62 millimeter cartridges, communications equipment, campaign backpacks and military accessories alluding to the GAO “Clan del Golfo” were found by troops.
The body of the individual and the war material found were taken to Bahía Solano and put into custody of the authorities for their full identification and process.
The operation had the support of the Colombian Air Force carrying out overflights on the combat area with long range and high definition cameras to monitor the operation.
