With the implementation of different operations that promote sustainable trade and the economic revival of the Montes de María region.
On Thursday morning, a Colombian navy vehicle loaded with more than three tons of yams of the Montes de María arrived in the municipality of Malambo, Atlántico, to be distributed to Grupo Éxito, which will supply its warehouses with agricultural products grown in the high mountains.
In less than a week, they have transported and traded close to 30 tons of agricultural products of the sub-region of the Montes de María, in the framework of the commitments made with the community in the municipality of El Salado, Bolivar, for the economic revival of this sector, as well as the different business partnerships established at the Meeting of Entrepreneurship in Agricultural led by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Governor of Bolivar, the Navy of Colombia and the Foundation Builders of Peace.
The implementation of these operations has led to promote sustainable trade through direct purchase to peasants and farmers of El Salado and El Carmen de Bolívar, bringing the peasant associations of Bolivar closer to the different areas and entrepreneurs that facilitate the commercial link without any kind of intermediation, in addition to reducing costs in the logistics process, specifically in its transport.
It should be noted that there are several companies that have joined to contribute to the growth and reactivation of peasant associations in Bolivar, among them the supermarket Megatiendas, the Logistics Agency of the military forces and the Grupo Exito. On Friday the Navy Battalion No.13, transported more than four tons of yams, cassava, papaya, pumpkin, lemon and coconut of the farms of the peasants of the municipality El Salado to the city of Cartagena, where the Saladeros will participate in peasant food baskets selling their products at cheaper prices to vulnerable inhabitants of the Corralito de piedra.
Similarly, 15 tons of yams, cassava, lemon, papaya and banana will be transported of the San Joaquín and Mandiga rural areas of the municipality of Mahates to the city of Cartagena to in the same way participate in peasant markets.
The difficult conditions of the terrain for the transport and marketing of the products from the High Mountain motivated the support of the Naval institution through the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 13 and the Navy mobility Battalion No. 1, providing logistical support to the inhabitants of El Salado to guarantee the commercialization of the plantations on the Colombian North Coast. Thus, in the first quarter of the year, it has managed to support in the transport and marketing of more than 64 tons of agricultural products, deploying all its logistical resources in support of producers and peasants.
