In the framework of the operations against the Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific coast, such as robberies in the sea against the ships guild and the rudimentary fishermen, and also carry out other criminal activities related to drug trafficking in Buenaventura and in the mouths of the Raposo and Cajambre rivers, the Navy of Colombia with Units of the Pacific Naval Force, in a joint and coordinated operation with the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, report a decisive operation against these criminal structures, during a confrontation, in the river Raposo, department of Valle del Cauca. This clash left the death of four members of the Organized Armed Group, residual structure 30, and the discovery of weapons.
In the fluvial operation, it was possible to find a ship in which these armed individuals travelled. When they received the call of the troops to stop, they shoot at the military, what produced the use of force in legitimate defense.
At the end of the confrontation, when the place of the events was inspected, the four bodies were found by troops as well as four assault rifles, one of them with grenade launchers. When verifying this armament, it was determined that the ID numbers two of the rifles and the grenade launcher M203, would correspond to the war material that had been stolen in events that occurred on March 17 of this year, during an operation on the Raposo river, where four members of the Colombian Navy were killed.
By instructions of the Judicial Police, the bodies of the individuals were taken aboard a ship of the Navy of Colombia, to the municipality of Buenaventura, where they were put into custody of the authorities. According to information from Naval Intelligence, these individuals apparently belonged to the Organized Armed Group, Residual structure 30 that perpetrates drug trafficking activities and robberies in the sea, in the Colombian Pacific, as well as crimes in drug trafficking routes in the municipality of Buenaventura guarding the departure of shipments of alkaloids, in association with different organized criminal groups and international drug trafficking organizations.
