As new members of the International Association of Maritime Universities -IAMU, the Director of the Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Camilo Mauricio Gutiérrez Olano, traveled to Helsinki, capital of Finland, to participate for the first time in the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of this association, which this year was organized by the University of Implemented Sciences of Satakunta, which is a member of IAMU.
The event that brings together experts and official representatives of universities from all over the world, members of IAMU, had as its central theme, the Quality of education of global maritime professionals environment where recent progress and future trends related to education, training and research of future professionals were discussed.
During this assembly, the Naval Cadet School Almirante Padilla received a recognition, by the Executive Director of the IAMU, Doctor Takeshi Nakazawa, for becoming members of this association.
“On behalf of all the academic people of the Naval Cadet School Almirante Padilla, I want to thank the IAMU for accepting us as a new member of this international association. The nature of this organization and its objectives regarding maritime education and instruction are of great interest to the Naval Academy and we are open to participating in the initiatives of both the IAMU and the projects and programs of each of the 72 members,” said Rear Admiral Camilo Gutiérrez.
The Almirante Padilla Naval Cadet School, alma mater of the Colombian naval Officers, will continue to build international standards of maritime education while work to provide the resources and facilities of the Maritime University, for academic meetings and projects that keep it at the forefront of world maritime affairs.
