In the framework of guaranteeing the defense of the rights of citizens, the Colombian Navy carried out during 2019, the permanent accompaniment to the Land Restitution Unit -URT- in several municipalities of the departments of Bolívar and Sucre.
Thus this year, troops of the Navy Infantry Battalions No.13 and 14 of the Naval Institution, made 509 accompaniments to the Land Restitution Unit, in charge of legal procedures to formalize the distribution of lands in favor of the victims of armed conflict.
These accompaniments were carried out in the municipalities of Arroyo Hondo, Calamar, Córdoba, Cármen de Bolívar, El Guamo, Mahates, María la Baja, San Jacinto, San Juan Nepomuceno and Zambrano, in the department of Bolívar. On the other hand, in the department of Sucre, 37 properties were distributed with about 6,350 hectares restored, in the municipalities of Morroa, Los Palmitos, Chalán, Colosó, Tolúviejo, Galeras, San Onofre and Ovejas.
Thanks to the effort of the Naval Institution providing security and support to the restitution process, which is being carried out in these two departments, President of the Republic Iván Duque Márquez and representatives of the National Land Agency, made the last August, the distribution of 1,058 property titles to the community of Ovejas – in Sucre, recognizing the peasant population their rights over the territory.
