In recent hours, the National Navy received the report from a relative of the Captain of the Sailboat "Challenge", reporting that it was missing.
Immediately the means available for the search of the boat were deployed and the alert was issued to all the Coastguard and Harbormaster Stations of Ports in the Caribean, as well as all its maritime and aeronautical units, in order to achieve the discovery of the sailboat and its two crew members. In the same way, the navy established contact with the authorities of the ports of the bordering countries in the Caribbean Sea.
The "Challenge"
The sailboat, from Holland, had arrived at Cartagena, the 21 of June, coming from Curazao, with four foreign citizens on board. It remained in the zone of anchoring of Manga until 19 of July, day when it sailed towards San Blas in Panama, carrying on board a Spanish citizen and a German citizen. However, according to the report received, it seems that he never arrived at this port and at this moment his situation is unknown.
The National Navy reaffirms its commitment to safeguard human life at sea, while in the same way reminds its availability, 24 hours a day, on line 146 to report any emergency situation.
