Vichada. The National Navy distributes 1.5 ton of humanitarian aid to 240 families hit by the flooding of the Meta and Orinoco rivers, which today leaves 18 neighborhoods under water, in the municipality of Puerto Carreño, department of Vichada.
On board river units, the crew members of the Naval Force of the East, with the support of the Naval Social action daily visit the neighborhoods hit by the floods, distributing humanitarian aid consisting of blankets, toys, clothing and footwear, benefiting to date, 1,210 inhabitants, who were grateful for the operation carried out by the National Navy.
"You are not alone, the Military Forces of Colombia and the Police are working in an articulated way for the community, for you. It is everyone's job. Daily we are distributing humanitarian aid and we are supporting the people in everything they need," said Rear Admiral Antonio José Martínez Olmos, Commander of the Naval Force of the East, during one of the support activities.
These aids were possible thanks to the coordination carried out with the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (DIAN) of Villavicencio, and the support of an ATR type aircraft of the National Navy.
The Naval Force of the East confirms its unrestricted support to the inhabitants of the communities, for whom it continues to work day and night to bring them well-being and provide security. In the same way, it invites the community to take preventive measures such as not leaving garbage to the rivers, preventing minors from entering the flooded areas, taking precautions with wild animals and informing the authorities in any emergency situation.
