In a coordinated effort conducted by the Colombian Navy and the private company, the distribution of humanitarian aid was carried out in Playa Blanca, an island area of Cartagena.
This activity was made possible thanks to the commitment of the crew of the Navy Battalion No.12, the support of Professional officers of the Caribbean Naval Reserve, the manager of beaches of Cartagena and representatives of the Playa Blanca Community action Board, who distributed 300 food baskets with food of the basic family basket benefiting 1200 native Afro-Colombian inhabitants.
The humanitarian aid was distributed by adopting biosecurity measures, in order to prevent the contagion and spread of the COVID-19, protecting the members of the neighboring communities and the personnel of the participating Military Forces.
With this activity, the Naval institution contributes to mitigate some of the basic needs of vulnerable families who were hit in their economic activity because of the pandemic.
The Colombian Navy confirms its social commitment to the inhabitants of the island zone, while strengthening coordinated work with State institutions and private enterprises for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Caribbean region.
