In the department of Vaupés, a territory of 54,135 kilometers on the border with Brazil, inhabited by 27 indigenous ethnic groups and with a great cultural richness, the soldiers of the Thirty-First Brigade wave the national tricolor, rescuing the symbols and emblems of Colombia.
Today, and after more than 900 Comprehensive Action activities in 2022, which seeks to benefit mainly hundreds of children and older adults, this region counts on the commitment of more than 2,000 soldiers, who provide security at the six informal border crossings and the checkpoints on the road that connects Monfort with Mitú and rivers towards Carurú and Guaviare.
The main mission is to close the spaces to drug trafficking, the main crime in the region.
This week, after the visit of the Minister of National Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, commitments were assumed by the Military Forces such as the deployment of operations within the framework of Plan 1,000 against microtrafficking, the protection of the natural resources of the Yaigojé Apaporis Park in the frame of the Operation Artemisa Plan.
Vaupés counts on an Army working for the protection of human rights and preparing to combat criminality in in the frame of the presidential elections.
