A cocaine mega laboratory of more than 600 square meters that had the capacity to produce more than eight tons of the drug was dismantled by the Military Forces in the department of Nariño.
Military operations in the Colombian southwest do not cease. Thanks to the joint and inter-institutional work conducted by the National Army, the Colombian Air Force and the Attorney General's Office, the Negrita Cuchilla village, municipality of Policarpa, received the troops who went there in order to dismantle a cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory that housed about five tons of the narcotic.
After an air assault maneuver carried out by special troops of the Command against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, in support of the Twenty-Third Brigade, of the Third Division of the National Army, more than 13,000 gallons of liquid supplies, 1,500 kilograms of solid supplies, as well as equipment and chemical precursors for the preparation of the narcotic were in the same way found.
According to military intelligence information, all these precursors and materials would belong to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Franco Benavides structure, this complex had a filtering extension of more than 300 meters, in addition to a drying structure of 50 meters and would have the capacity to produce monthly eight tons of cocaine hydrochloride, so this operation leaves a loss to illegal finances in more than 24,000 million pesos.
During the interception, the troops were attacked to prevent the operation, but the expertise and dexterity of the soldiers led to the finding of all the materials that later were put into custody of the authority.
Within the framework of the Perseo Plan, the National Army is constantly using all its differential resources to carry out decisive blows against drug trafficking, in order to weaken the illicit activities of these structures that intend to generate anxiety in this region of the country.
