In an inter-institutional work with the Mayor's Office of Suárez, Cauca, troops of the Specific Command of Cauca, through the Infantry Battalion No. 8 Batalla de Pichincha, rescued 10 people, including two older adults, one person with a disability, three adults and four minors, who had been threatened with death by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Jaime Martínez mobile column.
Given these events, in a humanitarian operation, the National Army carried out a security operation to travel on foot for more than three hours by paths, from La Alejandría to the Amparo sector, where a Mayor's vehicle was arranged to transport them to the municipality of Suárez, and leave them into custody of the Municipal Government Secretariat. These people will be welcomed in the Special Protection Route.
This operation was carried out by the National Army in order to protect and defend the life and physical condition of these people, in accordance with the mandates 217 and 222 of the Political Constitution, to guarantee the human rights of vulnerable inhabitants.
