The rescue took place in the municipality of L贸pez de Micay, at the request of the Regional Ombudsman office.
In the framework of the Plan Bicentenario H茅roes de la Libertad (Bicentennial Plan Heroes of Liberty), troops of the Infantry Battalion No.56, of the Specific Command of Cauca, a military unit of the Third Division of the National Army, rescued a cattleman who had been kidnapped by members of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Estructura Jaime Martinez, since July 31st of this year, while he was in the village of Zaragoza, municipality of Lopez de Micay, department of Cauca.
At the request of the Ombudsman Office and in response to early warnings 050 of 2018 and 033 of 2020, the security arrangements deployed by the National Army in this part of the country were reinforced, and the cattleman was found safe. He escaped from his captors, who were holding him in precarious conditions and tied up in the place of captivity, where he would have been killed by the criminals.
Immediately the troops, together with the other authorities, began to restore his rights, being attended by the medical corps of the military unit, to check his health status before the meeting with his family.
