In a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and inter-institutional with the Attorney General's Office, in the municipality of El Carmen, Norte de Santander, they recover five minors. They had been forcibly recruited by the residual organized armed group, GAO-r; an adult, presumably a member of the same illegal structure, was also brought to justice.
In the military operation the military found abundant war material, including is an R15 Bush Master rifle, a Prieto Beretta pistol, magazines and ammunition of different caliber.
The minors were given to the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing (ICBF), where they will begin the process of restoring his rights. It is important to note that with decree 965 of 2020 issued by the National Government, these young people will not only have legal benefits, but in the same way socio-economic benefits.
This command condemns and publicly rejects the criminal practice of forced recruitment in flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law, and ratifies its commitment to continue to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of Norte de Santander, carrying out military control operations of area tending to neutralize all factors of instability.
