This year, National Army troops have recovered 81 minors of the conflict in the department of Cauca, who were reportedly recruited by illegal armed groups.
In the strong military operation carried out by the National Army in the municipality of Argelia, southwest of the department of Cauca, a minor was recovered, who had been recruited by the residual organized armed group Carlos Patiño.
According to reports, this 16-year-old minor is an important member of the organization, and was recruited by alias El Paisa, one of the leaders of the residual group GAO Carlos Patiño.
The structure to which this young man belonged would have as its area of interference the municipalities of El Plateado and Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Argelia, as well as the municipalities of San Juan de Micay, Honduras and Huisitó, in the municipality of El Tambo, Cauca.
There, he would have had confrontations against the José María Becerra Front, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, in El Plateado, over the dispute over territories for drug trafficking routes in the coca-growing enclave; in addition to actions against the security forces in a rural area of the municipality of Algeria, Cauca.
The minor approached the troops of the National Army, handed over a long weapon with its magazine and ammunition, seeking with it the route of legality, his freedom and protection.
The material was given to the authorities, and the young man began the process for the restoration of his rights.
