In order to contribute to mitigate the basic needs of vulnerable people, the Sixth Division of the National Army, through Battalion of Military Engineers No. 27 General Manuel Castro Bayona, of the Twenty-seventh Jungle Brigade, provide water to 7,000 inhabitants of six neighborhoods in the urban center of Puerto As铆s (Putumayo).
This work, framed in the operations of support to the civil authority, was coordinated with the Company of Aqueduct, Sewerage and Cleaning of the municipality, since the inhabitants of the sector of the Metropolitan neighborhoods, Tres de Mayo, Ciudadela Confamiliar, Obrero 1 and 2, and Veinte de Julio do not have a system that provides them with water.
For this reason, and in order to guarantee the permanence of people in their homes, one of the vehicles of the military unit prepared along with military personnel to provide this service.
More than 50,000 liters of water have been distributed, which has led the inhabitants of the sector to remain at home, following the government measures of confinement, to contain the spread of COVID-19. With these operations, the National Army demonstrates once again its commitment to support the most vulnerable communities, using its capabilities to provide solutions.
