According to what was reported, the intimidation began when individuals accused of being members of this criminal organization, killed the mother of the family, last July 5 of this year, in the village of La Granja, in the municipality of Ituango.
In compliance with the constitutional mission, under the guidelines of the Security, defense and Citizen Coexistence Policy of the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ayacucho Operational Campaign Plan, troops of the National Army, seeking to protect the lives of civilians and give security conditions, provided support to a family consisting of an elderly adult and four minors.
This humanitarian aid took place in the village of La Granja, in the municipality of Ituango, in the northern subregion of the department of Antioquia, soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No.10 colonel Atanasio Girardot and deployed all their resources to evacuate these five people, who were allegedly being victims of intimidation and death threats by individuals who have identified themselves as members of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The family was evacuated in a National Army helicopter, guarded by members of the security forces, safeguarding their fundamental rights; likewise, a social leader joined this mission who reported having received an ultimatum from this armed group.
The command of the Fourth Brigade strongly rejects actions that violate human rights and international humanitarian law. Likewise, it ratifies the continuous military operations in the frontal struggle against organized armed groups that attack the tranquility of the inhabitants of Antioquia.
