Thanks to the rapid reaction of troops of the Eighteenth Brigade of the National Army, in a work of operational effort, the kidnapping of five workers of an energy company of the sector, in the municipality of Fortul, Arauca, by alleged members of the organized armed group GAO ELN, was prevented.
This action occurred when the workers were working, at that moment they are alerted by the activity of these individuals who were on a motorcycle with firearms and communication radios, immediately our Urban Special Forces units that were in this sector, so in a quick reaction they arrive in the place, but these individuals realizing the arrival of the units left the sector, it is noteworthy that previously the contractors would have been searched in the morning hours, apparently to be held.
The five workers were taken to the Fortul military base and given security protection so that they could return to their lands of origin.
The National Army reaffirms its commitment to continue working within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, against groups and individuals that attack the good physical condition, security and tranquility of civilians, and in the same way invites people to report in a timely manner situations such as this that put personal freedom at risk, through the national toll-free line 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group).
