Monte Cristo, is a rural village that in the last times suffered the armed conflict. Today it stands as a symbol of resilience and hope with the accompaniment of soldiers.
Recently, this transformation became evident during a cleaning and reforestation activity, jointly organized by the troops of the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4, the Airborne Infantry Battalion No. 20 General Serviez, the Faith in Colombia program of the Colombian National Army, the municipal administration and local people.
The activity included an intense pruning operation and solid waste collection on the main streets of the village, giving residents a cleaner and more orderly environment. In addition, more than three hundred native trees were planted, including Durantas, Ixoras, Tuscans and Ocobos, specimens that will contribute to beautifying and revitalizing the natural landscape of the village in the future.
Major Diego Cadavid, executive and second commander of the Integrated operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “As soldiers of Colombia, we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the reconstruction of the social fabric in the communities hit by the armed conflict. Together with the inhabitants of Monte Cristo and the municipal administration of Guamal, Meta, we have carried out this cleaning and planting activity of more than three hundred native trees, with the aim of beautifying and revitalizing the beloved rural area.”
“We thank Colombian National Army, its Faith in Colombia program and the Municipal Administration for their commitment to the community. It is inspiring to see how we work together for the benefit of everyone. This collaboration, which is part of the My Model Village campaign, demonstrates the power of togetherness and teamwork. We invite everyone to join so that together we can continue building a better future for our hamlet,” said Ever Peña, president of the communal operation board.
This activity marks a significant development in the transformation process of Monte Cristo, moving towards a future of sustainable development. The operations carried out not only improve the physical environment of the village, but in the same way strengthen the ties between Colombian National Army and the community, promoting a spirit of cooperation and solidarity essential for the continuous progress of the region.
