Within the framework of the Environmental Bubble of the Thirteen Brigade, troops of the Infantry Battalion Miguel Antonio Caro, carry out environmental restoration activity in the Laguna La Herrera Wetland in the municipality of Mosquera, Cundinamarca.
One thousand units of native seedlings were planted in the lands surrounding this water source, seeking the conservation and preservation of fauna and flora of the area.
This wetland is found in the municipality of Mosquera, five kilometers of the municipality, to the south west of the Bojac谩 River basin that integrates territories of the municipalities of Mosquera, Madrid and Bojac谩, taking into account that it retains a significant percentage of pollution in its ecosystem.
Hence, over the last few years, the National Army has joined this great operation of doing water cleaning, garbage collection in its vicinity and massive planting, significantly contributing to water regulation.
In the same way, there was an act in commemoration of the two years of the death of Reserve Second Lieutenant Gabriel Mauricio Silva, who was the promoter of environmental management for Infantry Battalion No.38 Miguel Antonio Caro, thanks to the work in the project Sowing Peace, Life and Reforestation conducted by the years 2009 to 2019, where it obtained two awards recognizing this tactical unit, the first Bibo El Espectador Award 2017 and the Andesco Sustainability Award 2019.
