The improvised explosive devices were in a rural area of El Carmen, putting peasant communities and members of the Military Forces at risk.
Through defensive military operations, soldiers of the Special, Energy and Road Battalion No.10, of the Specific Command of Norte de Santander of the National Army, destroy three anti-personnel mines in the village Villanueva, of the municipality El Carmen, in Norte de Santander. It is presumed that this improvised ammunition had been left in this place, apparently, by members of the rebel armed organization ELN, belonging to the Camilo Torres structure.
Thanks to the preparation and training of the soldiers, who, along with the implementation of their trained dogs, and carrying out in a thorough way the step-by-step transit for the controlled destruction of these improvised explosive devices, preserved the life and good physical condition of those who daily transit through this area.
